Whether you want to hike, bike or climb mountains, go whitewater rafting in the Rio Grande, fly-fishing, swimming, horseback riding, or hot air ballooning, all are just minutes away from the privacy of Alma del Monte. Excellent walks begin at Alma's front door while serious hikes are a short drive away.

The TSV ski school is recognized as one of the best in the nation. Angel Fire, Red River and Sipapu ski areas offer additional downhill and cross country ski options (including snow boarding) as well as snowmobiling and snow shoeing. The best winter bumper sticker is: "Taos, four letter word for Steep."

There is no shortage of indoor pursuits either. Taos is home to approximately 100 art galleries, 8 museums, 4 chamber music groups, lots of jazz, theatre, poetry readings, fine art movies,all kinds of dance, and a myriad of lecture opportunities.
