Does anyone have experience with the Outback Vision Protocol and can it be a scam?
Depends on your definition of a scam. If you believe a bunch of overpriced vitamins with a good deal of lies is a scam then, yes it is.
The website is a spammy mess which reeks of fearmongering and hard sell.
When you scroll down the way you actually get to your attempts at an explanation.
The advertising quotes Professor Hugh Taylor of the University of Melbourne:
So I’ll add a second quote from the Exact Same pro:
“Although Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children start off with much better vision than mainstream kids, by the time they reach the age of 40 or above, Indigenous adults have 6 times as much blindness, and 3 times as much vision loss. For blinding cataract, the rates are 7 times higher and for blindness from diabetes they are even higher.”
The reason Australian Aboriginal kids have the best distance eyesight in the world is because it is a hereditary trait. They are born with it, it’s not a commodity of their lifestyle. Aboriginal communities have exceptionally low levels of macular degeneration. In reality Dr Fred Hollows who worked in many of those communities for many years said he’d never noticed macular degeneration at a full-blooded Aboriginal individual. It’s another hereditary trait.
As for the Warrigal greens, the Maori in New Zealand ate them regularly, but don’t have the identical eyesight as the Australian Aborigines. Kakadu plum is just native to the far north of Australia. That leaves out all of the southern men and women. Quandong aren’t located in the north or the east of Australia. Pigweed (Purslane) is consumed around the world, usually grudgingly when there is little else. It’s not exclusive to Australia.
Macular degeneration is the result of a mix of genetics and environment. You don’t have any control on what genes that you inherit but you can change the way you live. Macular degeneration is definitely not caused by ‘the toxins’ like this guy is saying.
If you want to decrease the risk of macular degeneration during lifestyle factors there is some great information on the market based on appropriate research. Here is a great illustration: 11 Steps to Help Prevent Macular Degeneration
If you feel that may have any specific eyesight problem then get some medical advice. Most things have much better results when treated early.
